Ricky organized a San Antonio group visit to the track last year. Several of the Austin folks, including me, race at Iron Rock frequently. You won't be racing shifter karts without bringing your own or taking one of the track's racing schools. Rock Karts are available for rental. The rental karts are Honda powered Birel endurance karts, plenty of fun.
Racing leagues are offered on weeknights. Team endurance racing events are also popular. I've personally sponsored two 4-man teams this year. Night racing is a good idea while it is hot. The track is pretty hot in a helmet, racing suit or protective gear. Individual races or multiples can be purchased. The multiples are the best deal. The group discount is corporate event structured and doesn't offer any real savings to car groups like ours. The track was recently shortened for non-members due to increasing incidents on the track, really a shame. The full course was the best.
I'll be back at the track once it cools down a bit and my injured leg is healed enough to race again.

 

If you want I can give you my cell phone number and you can call me when you get out of work and I can let you know where we are at. We sometimes don't even get to the restaurant until 8:30-8:45 depending on how long we stand around a b/s with one another.

 

I went up with Ricky and it was a blast. I was thinking about getting a group together for another meet up there and have some fun. I will post up more info later.

I am planning on going to the hill country drive Sat night. It would be nice to have a big S2K turnout.

This will be my first such outing as well and it would be nice to meet all of you.
