I've never been cited for that, no... My only loud car is a trailer queen and doesn't get driven on the streets any more. I'm actually surprised I never got popped for driving that car NORMALLY on the streets many years ago because it's so loud.
You can make the argument that loud pipes save lives, but that's typically only when you're on a motorcycle.

Speaking of citations, anyone have someone that can take care of a 65 in 45 speeder issued by a Travis County Sheriff deputy?

I was mildly annoyed by loud bikes until I moved downtown and was treated to having one or more of those inconsiderate $#@*^&s drive by my house consistently about every 20 minutes, every night of the Republic of Texas Harley Rally. Last year, I vowed to leave town the first weekend of every June so as to avoid the ROT rally, and as promised, I have out of town plans this weekend

I must be getting old, b/c I've become very anti-loud exhaust lately, be it on a dirt bike, street bike, or car. All they do is annoy the general public for minimal performance gains, and create a negative stereotype of performance enthusiasts w/ the general populace.
My KTM 450 is the first dirt bike I've owned in a while where I've retained the stock exhaust - and I'm keeping it that way!

DD is a good "get out of jail card" w/in certain constraints:
- you can't have used it w/in the last 12 months
- it works only for moving violations (ex. DUI)
- there are certain limitations, like it usually doesn't apply for speeding in excess of 25 over the limit.

Yep, they can cite you for being too loud, be it stereo, engine, whatever. That doesn't necessarily mean that it will stick in court, but they can cite you for pretty much anything they want to.
