Default [AUS] Attention Austinites- speed traps

Ignition25 (Malcolm), ScubaDriver (Jeff), Spiderxvpbiking (A.C.), and I were all pulled over on Southwest Pkwy today. We all kind of deserved it, I guess: we had been pretty well behaved all day, and 3 empty lanes were more temptation than we could pass up! The cops were on bikes, running no radar at the time, hidden in some bushes, at the western end of the road near 71.

The cop that pulled me and Malcolm over said they heard all of us "drop the hammer and take off," (*cringe*) and that if they had had their laser on, all of us "would be going to jail for racing with [our] cars on flatbeds."

(A.C., I think it was your exhaust that they heard first )

Long story short, we all got lucky and got fix-it and dismissable tickets. It could have been a LOT uglier; our cop said that his sheriff has a "hard-on for reckless driving" (his words, not mine), and I'm feeling pretty grateful that we didn't get tossed in jail. (I'm also pretty grateful that I didn't get a ticket that would violate my probation!)

The most important part to note is that the cop told us that Southwest Parkway is now "hunting grounds" for tickets, so don't go out there misbehaving! They are on bikes so it's easier for them to be sneaky and hide, and the cop inadvertently told me that they are using laser, so you're going to be pretty seriously screwed if you get nailed out there for speed.

Beware, and be safe!

Yeah, if it wasn't for ScubaDriver's pinned up frustration we would have been ok (inside joke)

The officer's did hear my exhaust first.

See? If you guys had taken my lead and only done 10-15 over like we did all day when you were following me, the po po wouldn't have been as interested in us

Speaking of citations, anyone have someone that can take care of a 65 in 45 speeder issued by a Travis County Sheriff deputy?

Sorry to hear, guys .... Looks like the PO-PO was interested in scaring you good. Did any of you have your radars on?

I think all of us had detectors on, but they weren't running radar or laser at the time for them to detect it (according to the cops, that's why we're all out of jail at the moment...)

It's a good thing I don't ever exceed the speed limit or race...

I still have some pictures around here from the last group pull over.
