Memphis is not really our "area", you never know, someone may have recommendations regardless.

damn dude, sorry I didn't see this sooner. I'd have definitely pointed you in the right direction.

Memphis is like the red-headed stepchild around here, I have to follow 3 different areas to know what's going on.

yeah....memphis is forgotten in the s2ki community.

Sakura is my favorite sushi place (Germantown)
Boscos is the best local microbrewery (Midtown)
Beale street....well, not a great idea if you care about your car

i am planning to swing back by in about two weeks, so if anyone sees a black slammed ap2 with a wood hood, its me. hahah

East Memphis is the better part of town for sure, I hardly ever go out that way so not sure about the restaurants. If you do go down to Beale, go to Blues City Cafe... everything on their menu is good. There's Rendezvous of course, but I like wet ribs over dry and BCC's are awesome. There are a few Huey's scattered around the city for burgers and pub/deli food.

For BBQ, it's take you pick... most people will say Corky's but there's better to be had. Intersate BBQ is great... try the bbq spaghetti. Leonard's for an all-u-can-eat bbq buffet, but I go for their catfish.

There also a Texas de Brazil downtown which is one of the better meals in town. The thing about Beale/downtown, get out before 10:00. Sad to say but it's not worth it, looks like you were in the right place for late night fun.
