I wanted to do the same thing, so I went to my local upholstry shop and had him stitch in a new plastic window into my top. I had him order the darkest plastic he could, which was almost completly black. The whole thing cost me $250. I don't have to worry about the tint peeling and it wasn't as expensive as replacing the window with glass then tinting it. Hope it helps.

The point of the tint on the plastic window isn't entirely aesthetic. It serves to protect to plastic from scratches and the effects of the sun. You can keep the plastic like new without it however with a good plastic polish and a little effort.
