road tripping in the S! please advise
i am going to be driving from bloomington IN to Birmingham AL to visit a friend in grad school in a few weeks. as far as i can tell its basically a straight shot southeast about 8 hrs with about 300 miles being on I-65. i will be driving through bowling green KY and nashville TN and i was wondering if there are roads in the area that might make my drive a whole lot more enjoyable while not being too far out of the way.i was hoping to get some input and suggestions from you guys that know the area! any feedback is must appreciated!

The link below has some options for you that aren't too far out of the way. These are based a couple of road trips I do on my motorcycle each year. The Northern portion is our route from Nashville to Indy for the MotoGP races. The bottom portion is our route from Nashville to Barbers Motorsports park to see AMA superbike racing. Both are good routes but it turns your 8 hours into 11 hours.

Stop in Bowling Green for lunch. Take exit 22 off of i-65. Turn right off the interstate, take the first left (Cumberland Trace Rd), then the first right (Old Scottsville Rd). This road is the absolute best driving within 200 miles. It is only about 10 miles, and if you hang a right at the end, you find yourself back at the same exit. It won't get you further down the road, but you won't want to pass it up.
