I know good and well the scratch on the rim is just a nit pick thing and they won't charge them for it if he owes them a favor. I'm not going to take it to a shop that owes them a favor thats b.s. after I'm giving him the option to pay out of pocket or go the insurance route.

But I'm not sure if I'm going to get the car fixed immediately or by a shop. I might buy all the supplies and do it myself.
its probably what i would do....take the money and replace the bumper if it cant be buffed out...take the money and pay down the car payment if you have one.

Im not saying to let their shop repair it...more so you have gotten an estimate from a shop of your choice.....if they want one from a shop of their choice thats to be expected imho.

if a dollar amount could be agreed on id take the money and take to somplace else that would satisfy you or like i said pay the car payment down.

I went through something similar when i had my front damaged by a leaf blower/multching company. Two estimates, one from my place and one from of their choosing. Got the money close and put it toward the balance of my loan.

I don't have a car payment. Bought it cash

But honestly shouldn't it be my choice where i take my car since i am the one letting him choose to pay out of pocket or not?

Couldn't i just take the estimate to his insurance and get the money that way. The police report isn't even finished yet. I go to pick it up tomorrow.

I thought you were going to avoid his insurance company?
Chances are his ins. co. will want to take the cheapest route. They will refer you to a shop they use when they have to pay.
You have the right to choose your own shops & estimates - so long as they're legitimate bussinesses. No matter which way you go, it would be wise to get at least two estimates.

I see this going to "The People's Court",

(FunKy MuSic)

(Here comes the plaintiff, He was being a straight A student when he was stopped in the hallway by the defendant and was told his car had been hit. Now he's paid money out of pocket for the repairs. He's suing for $2283.91. 1283.91 for the cost of the repair and $1000 for Pain and SuFfErInG.

Entering now is the defendant, he claims he was late for class and YES he did hit the plaintiffs vehicle. But only because the vehicle was parked on the line. He claims the plaintiff is gouging the quote so he refuses to pay. He has entered a countersuit in the amount of $5000, for harassment.

He's accused of "Bashing the Berlina")
