Kind of i guess. They have just wrote me a check before. Now, if they write me a check and it goes through a shop, the shop can request more money if its needed(if there was hidden damage ect). If I got the check and it didn't go through a shop, I'm sure it would be very hard to get any extra money needed.
But, I'm not sure I will get the option of a check. Just depends how much I guess

Yeah. I really need to get ahold of Tyler sometime this year to do a re-spray on mine and do a few minor body repairs. I kinda want to file a claim though because the lower part of my bumper is scuffed/screwed up from hitting a freakin possum. I wonder what it'd take for them to cover a re-spray? lol

Unfortunately, I bet they total your car if it's fenders, hood, HT, top of doors, trunk and rear quarters! Dibs on buy back if you don't want it!!

You can always request a check. They owe you that money regardless. Now, it won't always be the amount you want. Insurance companies will depreciate the value of a claim when they send their adjuster to look at it. That way, if you ask for a check, they won't be out as much money. If you take it to shop, more than likely it will cost more than what the insurance company gave you. At that point the shop just handles it directly with the insurance company.
