If you like cool lounges then Virago's on division is the spot, no cover but might need a reservation if you don't want to wait.
You can then hit all the spots on demonbreum street like on the rocks etc...no cover
Sambuccas is nice for jazz music in the gulch....no cover
there is also Agaves tequelia bar on 12th in the gulch as well....no cover
Try Mirror on 12th near the belmont campus, really cool and no cover
Downtown nashville has a place called Pearl near sbarros.....kinda cheesy but worth a pop in...no cover
Cabbannas in hillsboro village is cool.....no cover
I usually finish my night by deciding that I have to at least see some pretty girls so i go by the old lot 7, it's on 12th and has changed names but some on here would know it as the old lot 7. I have not been since they renamed it, but expect a lot of techno, young asian people there. They do have a cover and could be as high as 15 dollars depending on how late you get there, but the music is not loud and the place is actually cool looking, out of towners love it.
There is also cadilac ranch downtown on broadway, i hear that is a good club but i have not been yet....cover charge
Then last but not least is Fuse in the opryland hotel, 20 dollar cover after 9, people dont get there untill 12am, drinks are 11-15 dollars and stay away from the vodka locker.
And when all else fails you have christies cabaret and deja vu.

East of down town - all in walking distance from one another, working class crowd no snobbery
Alley Cat lounge
Red Door Salloon - east
3 Crow bar
uptown, west end, vandy
Boundry- swanky, pricey but high class
cabanas- ditto
virago- great food expect to spend some $$$ awesome atmosphere
Sams sports bar-college crowd usually
Red door salloon good spot for some brews and chill before or after virago
Broadway brewhouse- lots of beers on tap
Downtown- mostly younger crowd and tourists - local rednecks frequent the honkeytonks.
Mulligans- irish pub
honky tonks on broadway accross from Sommet center.. .country music but fun and lots of drunk chicks.
Printers alley has a strip club and a great blues bar.
