OK - so it seems that we have not had much luck with the business cards. I was thinking about other ideas on how this could work better.

My first thought is. Once someone receives the card, is it to difficult or intimidating for people to find their way onto the site, and then find the group? Maybe people are not sure what forums are all about, and what can be found. Are people thinking its just a bunch of gear heads and are unaware of the other aspects of the site?

What about changing the link on the card (next round) to an introduction site that cuts directly to the chase, and Welcomes people in a little bit easier.

This is a quick little thing I came up with, that we can tweak around with if anyone is interested. Matt, Kyle.... what do you think?

We could add more descriptions of different sub-forums along with the links.
Almost an orientation type site.

 

Sounds like a good idea. ANYTHING is better than the response we have had. :-(

 

Sounds great to me. I know a lot of people who have no idea what internet forums are. So this would be great for people like that.

 

Dang Chris, this is a good idea. The ONLY problem I can think of, is the length of the new "Intro" URL. I wonder if we could make a sub-forum in our region, with the same info as what you posted. Say at:

www.smoky.s2ki.com/intro

Or something along those lines. But I do agree that results have been less than stellar.
