Anyone else have this problem?
All,
I have '04 Silverstone. The rear bumper seems to be separating from the body of the car.
If you look right below the rear taillights, where the bumper forms a triangle into the rest of the body, the tip of the bumper appears to be pulling away from the body, abut 1/4 of an inch now.
The dealer told me that this going to happen since the body is metal and the bumper plastic, and it is common to see on any S.
I think that is a bunch of CRAP, I have never seen another S, let alone any other Honda doing this.
Anyone else have the problem, it looks like S$&#!
Sorry I could not show pictures, I do not have the access on this post to load them up.
Any input is appreciated,
mTn Smith

I also think the dealer is full of crap! All S2000s are metal bodies and plastic bumpers but I haven't heard of this happening to anyone. Maybe you should check with a more credible dealership's service manager to get Honda to fix it.

Thanks for the feedback.
I put in an official complaint with Honda America, maybe they can put a little pressure on the local people.
Take it back in next week and they will try to readjust it again and see what they come up with.
I agree with you Jamie, pretty much all cars now are metal and plastic. It has been kind of hard to drive lately without checking out every car I pass, just to see if they have the same problem, and I have not seen one yet. I am interested in seeing yours Kaolinte. I believe I have seen your car near where I work on Dutchtown Road, I might swing in sometime when I see it and check it out.
Don't be alarmed if you see me hovering near your rear bumper in the parking lot.
Thanks,
mTn Smith

Hey All,
Took my S back to Westside, and they fixed the bumper peeling away from the corner. Apparently there are a couple of clips that you can access if you remove the taillights that had come loose. So if you have this problem, it may be fixable, at least until it happens again.
See ya,

At the top (beginning of) the Masters List of Smokey Mountain S2000 owners, Ron is listed. Ron was the Service Manager at West Side Honda. I don't know if he still is, or if he is still an S2000 owner, or if he is still looking at the board. He may not be around the board anymore because he obviously didn't input during any of these postings.
I am glad they fixed your car....

Ron is still the service manager, and I really appreciate his persistance in correcting this small defect that I had. I now have more faith in Westside and the service department, knowing that he took the time and corrected the imperfection.
