stock intake
I noticed when i took off my intake cover that it has a very loud whistly noise when warmed up in idle. Is that normal? my mom was bieng gay and made me put it back on...Its 40degrees and im sure im not loosing much power or gaining any and i loved the sound. She freaked out cause "it didnt sound like that when we bought it" LOL! gayy...so it does whistle in idle? yall that have a custom one even...it whistles right? or is my engine ready for reconstruction? hope not =[

Yes it "whistles", that's normal...it's the noise from the air being sucked into your intake.

Chris - you looking to trade straight up?
I'm also running the top off of my intake. You'll lose power in traffic, but gain minimal power while moving at decent speeds.

The whistling is the airpump that forces extra air through the system to prevent a CEL due to the car running rich. It will intermittintly come on when your sitting at lights too.

Airpump only comes on during cold starts. After it shuts off, it doesn't come back on until another cold start. Maybe you're thinking of the radiator fans. Either way, the airpump has nothing to do with the car running rich, its to get the cat to warm up faster for emissions purposes
