Road Trip! Indy 500 May 2011
What: Indianapolis 500 (100th anniversary)
Where: Indianapolis, Indiana
When: Sunday May 29th
This event is 6 months away so this thread is to gauge interest. I am from Indy and attend the race every year. This year IMS (Indianapolis Motor Speedway) is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the race (first race in 1911). It is not the anniversary of the 100th race as they didn't hold the race during WWII.
I have tickets and normally fly in for the race but I thought it might be fun to see if any fellow S2K owners have an interest in driving up and attending the race. As stated the race is held on Sunday May 29th (Memorial day weekend). However a big part of the tradition of the Indy 500 is Car Day which is held on Friday May 27th.
Based on that I would see a schedule of leaving Tampa on Wednesday May 25th and arriving in Indy sometime Thursday May 26th. Attending Carb day on Friday, Saturday is the drivers meeting, and the 500 festival parade. Sunday is race day. Monday is Memorial day.

My thoughts are if anyone is interested we could try and arrange the following:
1) A Honda S2K car corral.
2) Determine if we might be used in the Saturday parade. The parade is a big deal over 300,000 people attend. That's not a typo 300k. Here is a link to the parade site: http://www.500festival.com/parade/
3) I can arrange for tickets, hotels, etc. I have 4 tickets, 2 are extras but depending on how many folks would be interested in going we could get additional tickets. This is not your normal auto race you can't walk up on race day and get premium seats they are usually sold out months in advance. Tickets would range from $75 to $150.
4) I have a few possible connections I would be willing to contact to see if we could get garage passes and or pit passes. If not for race day(these are difficult to come by) for Carb day.
5) The museum is worth the trip alone so visiting it is a must either on Friday or Saturday.
So who is interested???

Ok, so we get started at the HGPSP, go to Barber and hangout with the big oss ants and then go to Indy and wait for the party. Glad I get two months off this fiscal year

May substitute Indy instead of Barber......Would like to pitch a tent in Lot 2....... Yeah...that's where I want to be. A hundred paces from the yard of bricks... If all works out right Jim & Flo, I'll be there to hear you sing on the 29th!

My car would not make the trip....... I cant seem to keep a turbo in tact for over a 1000 miles.....I would sweat taking it to Miami let alone Indiana....LOL
If i went it would have to be shotgun (not bitch) and splitting hotels/gas with someone. I am not baller enough to go solo.
With the SPGP I am not even sure I would have the available time off.
