No, there was no issue before, but 'before' is about 4 years ago.
John, I'm not sure where you are located in Tampa, but I'd be willing to come see you some evening you are available so we could look at this thing and see what's going on. I'll PM my phone number so you can call if you're available.
I'm a little leery about going to Honda. I'm afraid they're going to tell me I need some million dollar lock assembly, and it is hard to believe it's not something simple.
the history:
tab broke a while back, not sure why or how.
I left it untouched fro the longest time and everything worked fine (fob, outside handle, locking with key, etc, just not the locking tab from inside).
I took the door panel off to replace the door speakers (still didn't mess with the handle, rod or anything else) and when I put it back on, the fob, key from outside wouldn't work.
I bought the replacement inside handle assembly and when I put it back on, the fob then worked and I could lock it with the key from the outside, but the locking tab still wouldn't engage without putting pressure on the 'open' rod.
I'm perplexed, but I am fully convinced I twisted something or moved something out of it's intended place. Again last night I took everything apart and tried to look at what I could see, but to no avail.
I also couldn't see where or how I could turn either of the rods as you suggested.
Thank you for sticking with me on this!
