I am sorry. I killed my AP1

Hey Ryan!!
I wanted to wait to see how you were personally doing before commenting. The fact that you are able to appear before us online with virtually 99.9% good health besides some some bruised anatomy, pride and perhaps emotional strain, is indeed the priority. We are all relieved that your injuries are minor compared to what could have happened. And now, seeing the posted pics and your wonderful humor, highlight that you are a class act with a increased sence of humility.
Both Danae and I can attest to the experience that you have gone through with customizing and killing of an AP1 with collision. We too hit a tree, although our degree of angle and decline was a tad more precarious up in the mountains of North Carolina. Likewise, we also came through without a scratch. Once we picked up the rented "Ford Escort" for the long, haunting ride home, we were still stunned about the unfortunate event and the fact that we have it on videotape just kept playing over and over in our heads all the way home. We were done, no more sports cars after a BMW 2002, Fiat 124 spider and three Mini Coopers. Life was just too short. And we had 4 boys to think about.
However, the more we thought about it, we finally awoke to the fact that we had not only survived, but fully walked away; phisically unscathed. Maybe we had to climb 65+ feet straight up the incline, nurse a few scatches on the shins from the overgrown weeds & ivy, but not a single injury induced from the horrific crash itself. And once the initial "trauma" resided, we kept saying that no other car would have produced these positive results. So.........for about the first 24 hours, life was bleak. Then we started to get our senses back and within about 14 days, we had purchased a new '06 in the highly coveted Laguna Blue.
Point being this: Me and the Zacksmom sincerly hope that you find a way to get through this, fully recover from this, learn from this and get back into this!!! We have never even remotely once, ever regretted our decision to jump back into the decision to buy another S2K. We hope that you do to when the time and opportunity arrives. Until then, do not be a stranger.

I’m glad you are feeling better! Looks like you took moment and stepped away then came back to analyze the situation. Thumbs up bro. If i can think of anything i need for my ap1 ill hit you up before i leave town. Even if it’s a small part i might need I’ll try to help.

Wow, thanks Scott. Your point of view is very valuable, and consoling to me right now. You readily understand the questions/fear/doubt going through my mind right now as to what to buy. I am leaning toward buying a "work" truck for now, saving up and then buying another S where the pressure is off and I can buy a gem at my leisure. One of the things with my beloved ap1 (God rest her steel soul) is that I was rushed into buying her from Carmax. I didn't know the history and some things always bugged me. Now I can find a perfect Laguna Blue and show you up. I will have to move this summer so buying an S may have to be pushed off. =\
ghostrider - thank you.
Everyone, the parts are coming off and I have a lot to sell! I will start cataloging them and post a google docs spreadsheet with each part, asking price, part number and availability. This is all going into the Buy-Ryan-a-new-S fund.
Stay safe and watch out for slick roads, folks. I have always thought I was skilled at handling cars out of control; even if you're the best driver in the world it's not possible to save yourself from a 4 wheel skid without enough room to eventually slow down. If this were a plane crash and the NTSB had to make a report it would be "pilot error - driving too fast for conditions." I have to accept my hubris caused this and move on, thankful I can do so.

Sorry to hear about your car but I'm glad it did its job in protecting you from serious injury. Sometimes shit just happens. Hopefully you can get ourself into another S.

Hey Ryan, Don't know you, but glad your okay. Every time I see a wrecked S, it gives me a sick feeling. I know how we all feel about our rides.
I hope that you find the resources to buy another, look forward to seeing you on the road.
I will look for your list to help fund your next ride, I need a secondary air injection pump and sensor, and am always looking for upgrade parts (brakes, suspension, and exhaust, and a rear spoiler wing to be exact).

Thanks guys - the outpouring of empathy here really speaks volumes about our community.
I have started the part-out thread with a lot more detail to come. Right now I am hoping to sell the engine and transmission as the big ticket item. That engine was a solid powerplant and I'd hate to part her out for less.
