Depending on the system once you check the gas cap it may take a couple of starts and shutdowns till the light goes out. In other words the car has to cool right down and be started from cold before the computer resets.

A loose gas cap will set a code in the computer for "small evaporative leak". Find someone with a scanner and fix the car the right way. If the light is on, there will be a code saved in the computer which will tell you exactly what system is at fault.

My 02 S2000 even worse than you. When is only 300 km EPS light go on, no power steering. When 3500km engine light on, go back to dealer, a electronic control valve to control the air pump open and close. that valve broke. Then to 10000km engine light on again, this time is the gas cap.
But one thing very funny on my gas cap, it's hard to close all the way tight. After 10000km, I buy a new gas cap, put it on. Until after 5000km, it is hard to close all the way tight!!
Do you guys have that problem?

DogMan is right...it's the gas cap. Tighten it up and pull the 3rd fuse from the bottom on the left hand bank for about 10 seconds to clear the alarm...don't pull the -'ve wire from the cable unless you want to reprogram all your radio presets, etc...
