I have both, the RSX-s has a six speed and my 325i has a five speed. I find myself forgetting to shift into sixth when I'm driving the RSX-s because it just doesn't seem like I'm revving as much, but then the 325i is loud as hell and reminds me to make better use of the gears. In city driving I hardly ever get out of fourth gear in either car, they both get kind of bogged down when only doing 30-40 mph in any gear higher than fourth.

Someone explain to me how skipping gears is bad..

I've always done it, never had a problem.. and I can't logically see how it makes a differance.

How do you explain something like the vette that forces you to skip a gear?

thanks

Why, do they put 4th in the 3rd gear spot?

The syncros are not made for a large ratio difference on an upshift. Gear to gear is ok but when you skip one it's too much of a rotation difference = bad.
