1st off let me say I'm the kind of owner who does not ever plan to sell my S, so it is clearly a long term relationship. 2nd based upon how my car gets used at the track and my dealer not having a problem with that, the extended warranty seemed like a very wise idea so I bought the 75,000 miles/7-year program. Another part of why I bought it, I got it for about $800 USD, I paid like 10% down and then the balance was divided up into 11 more monthly payments with 0% interest.

also $800 is a small percentage of the purchase price of an S $30k to $32k USD (2.3% to 2.5%) so that would be a no brainer. (then again, it's a Honda, it never breaks and they've been a bitch w/ all warranty claims, so it's not really worth it)
but at $400 a pop, for something that costs between $1g to $4g that's a hefty percentage -- if they are as finicky as domestic cars then yeah it's worth it... but if it's only a small percentage of units (probably 1st batch shipment) then I'd probably save the $400 torwards something else.

When you read the cost to have rear half shafts replaced and how often that needs to be done to a car that gets a lot of track miles $800 does not look that bad. then factor in all the other things that have to be replaced and then the potential for an engine failure because I got an early 2002 without the revised banjo bolts, now $800 looks like a deal of a lifetime...
Oh, and yes, I'm buying a Mac mini for home and I have no intention of getting a service agreement on that.
