Sell it and buy a new car in the color you want. A GOOD paint job is going to cost on the order of $5000-$10000. That's a good job including labour, prep and finishing. Paint is baked in an oven at the factory at a much higher temperature than can be done after the fact. The only way to get a good as factory paint job is to strip it down to bare metal removing all the trim, plastic, rubber, interior, engine, subframes, the works. Then you media blast or chemical dip it to stripe off the old paint and sound proofing and undercoat. Then you paint, 3 color coats with baking and sanding between each, then clear, at least one coat, followed by wet sanding and polishing.
Then you need to put everything back in and put the car back together and you know for a fact that it's not going to be anywhere back to original.

I think there a few things to consider.
Are you thinking of a custom colour?
Have you done things in your current car that you would miss or have to re-do?
You can get a very good paint job for $4000.
I always liked the BMW blue (Monaco or something like that). Before the S2K came out in a similar blue, I had planned to get a light blue, with blue interior and paint it the darker blue. I ended up with a berlina, and have always liked a clean black car.
My 2 cents.
