I say buy a new one. Nothing is better than an OEM paint job in my opinion. But hey that

Get it painted...you can get it any color you want and it doesn't have to be anything anyone else has.

get your car painted. you know what your getting yourself into mechanically this way. Takes out the risk of you getting another one that has had a rough live thus far.

if you don't plan on selling the car, it'd be worth it to get a color change
otherwise it'd be a bad move

Sell it and buy a new car in the color you want. A GOOD paint job is going to cost on the order of $5000-$10000. That's a good job including labour, prep and finishing. Paint is baked in an oven at the factory at a much higher temperature than can be done after the fact. The only way to get a good as factory paint job is to strip it down to bare metal removing all the trim, plastic, rubber, interior, engine, subframes, the works. Then you media blast or chemical dip it to stripe off the old paint and sound proofing and undercoat. Then you paint, 3 color coats with baking and sanding between each, then clear, at least one coat, followed by wet sanding and polishing.

Then you need to put everything back in and put the car back together and you know for a fact that it's not going to be anywhere back to original.

Sell it and buy the car you want.

I think there a few things to consider.

Are you thinking of a custom colour?

Have you done things in your current car that you would miss or have to re-do?

You can get a very good paint job for $4000.

I always liked the BMW blue (Monaco or something like that). Before the S2K came out in a similar blue, I had planned to get a light blue, with blue interior and paint it the darker blue. I ended up with a berlina, and have always liked a clean black car.

My 2 cents.

I am paying 3000 cash and the guy i have has worked on competition cars that have won speedorama and importfest. If you want the engine bay done you can get the engine towed and pulled at defcon racing.............to anyone that lives in the gta.My buddy's 500 horse prelude won speedorama and he did not even have the engine pulled the guy taped it and went all around you could not even tell but he did pay 25,000 for paint and wide body kit from japan. He told me 1000 for taped and covered and 600 if the engine is pulled he also has a heated booth I have alot of carbon fiber not getting painted and the fact that it is a soft top makes it cheaper too. This guy has also worked on my friends supra and rx7 highly recommended pm for contact
