But at least it gets me where I need to go on those days / week after a blizzard on streets that the city forgot / haven't gotten around to plowing.

These M2's are great... they're pretty good in the snow, even the deep stuff, have a stiff enough side wall so they don't feel like mush. Handle well.

if you want a cheaper tire, try kumho kw19s... i use the 19s on the S last year and they were great. Not too squirmy at speed, and definitely a lot of bite in deep snow/slush. I've used LM50s in the past, and i would say that this tire is comparable for my style of driving (which, in the snow, is quite cautious).
Plus the tire is studdable if you're fortunate enough to live outside of Ontario
