Default Wierd noise, just curious...

Not to sure if anyone has experienced this or has any idea what it might be but any input or ideas is appreciated.

Since the car was new (and i can vouche for that being the first owner), i get a wierd noise from the rear end (maybe differential?) when im just starting to move and making a turn at the same time. Ex. right hand turn at lights, pulling out of parking spot/driveway.

At first i thought it may be part of the break-in period but iv got ~12,500K on the car now. It doesnt seem to be effecting the car whatsoever and its only under these conditions, it also seems to disipate after a short while (say 5 minutes driving).

Thanks for your opinions!

Honestly i didnt really want to describe the noise so early as i felt it may bias your opinions, and because i find it extremely hard to describe.

However i can tell you this, it sounds like a grinding..but a smooth grinding, doesnt sound like metal to metal.

There is no scraping, clicking, squeling.

not that much money now haha.

the reason i said axle nut cuz this happens when starting off and making a turn.s

could be calipers maybe? do your wheels move freely? what about lsd? enough fluid, etc? you never know. one thing I never understood is why you dont take your car in if it only has 12k on it? unless this is just kinda a feeler thread.

he has a CR, therefore it's from the states. He would havet o drive down. Which is a hassle. (i think atleast)

Is it happening while you engage first gear?

Brakes are fine, so i dont think its anything regarding that. And yes its a CR so my warranty is "void" although i could probably try taking it to a US dealer, which is just over the border for me. Like i said tho there is no performance loss and it doesnt sound "bad", its just wierd and i wanted to hear what you guys thought.

It happens after iv started moving (so after i have engaged first) but it is when its in first only, meaning i dont get the noise when turning in second. I have to be moving really slow for it to make the noise and like i said its when i make a turn not when im just getting going.

Im just looking for opinions, figured id give you guys something to scratch your heads over. Thanks again for the input!

Personally im leading more towards the rear dif just getting worked in, i thought maybe this was a common thing for the S, or maybe others have owned it since new and noticed the same thing?

p.s- fluids should be good as these cars are payed very close attention to from the factory line, or so iv heard.

I think I know the noise he may be talking about.... When I turn a tight corner I get a kind of hopping noise like clunk clunk clunk from the rear. My tires also scrape if I turn a tight enough corner. Is this similar to what your hearing? I know the axle click is just a clunk leaving from a light or changing directions etc.
