Just curious...

Part of me wants to see it, but another part of me doesn't. None the less I'm against censorship of any kind, so I can't bitch about it being released.

Well we live in a free an open society but people are going to bitch and complain about it saying it glorifies the acts she and Bernardo did. I think the government made a raw deal and are regretting about it now. I feel the same way too. It's like a train wreck you wanna look but don't want to be proud to tell that you did!

I, personally, had reached the saturation point with this story after the trial ended.
Everytime I opened the paper there was another analagy of Karla from Rosie DiManno or Christie Blatchford. Both whom covered this story with a great passion.
I have no interest in watching a movie about it.

I won't go only because I don't like to watch that type of movies. I might see it on dvd, but I'm really not all that interested. I don't have an ounce of opposition in me to the movie being made. That's just humanity, we like to share stories and movies are just one of the mediums used. Movies have been made about far worse things. If anything I would more likely take the standpoint that forgetting about the crimes and letting them slip from our society's concious would be sadder.

^^ I just think that those poor families have been through enough.

And its not about whether or not movies have been made about worse things. Yes, 9/11 was worse in that more people died, but the families of the people who died do not have to live with the fact that their daughter was abducted, repeatedly raped by a couple while being bound to furniture, beaten and then cut up and dismembered.

I cannot think of much that I would consider "worse" than that.

I dont think its a constructive movie to make. What IS the point of it?

it is different. that was about something that the world must not forget. it is not like this Karla movie will prevent such things from happening in the future. not saying that schindlers list will either, but at least you can say that based upon the holocost that nations will probably better react to something that apears to be heading in the same direction.

Karla is purely a look at an isolated incident that will certainly repeat itself. what are people going to say after they see it? Im going to keep an eye on their neighbours?

To make money. That's it.

And this movie WILL make money on a low budget.
