Default What To Use, Amsoil Synthetic Oil Or Mobile 1 Syntech

Hey guys! what do you think? Anyone heard about Amsoil? I have Mobile 1 Syntech in my engine right now and have to change my oil soon. Should I continue with Mobile 1 or change to Amsoil.

Thanks

I'd stick with mobil-1. I'm using the 15W-50 in the summer and it works great. Not sure if you'll notice any difference if you go amsoil or motul race oil unless you race the thing...

Both are Very good oils...Id just stick with Mobil 1. Mobil 1 is more than enough protection for our cars. Amsoil is not as readily available and is a bit more expensive. ..Oh and make sure you use 10W30 only.

ITR...why are you using 15W-50 ???.....

Try Motul 6100 10W40 or 300V 10W60.
You will love it.

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if Honda recommended 20w50 in Australia or New Zeland for the S.. I'm almost sure that 0w/5w/10w40 is the recommended and most widely used grade in Europe.. Personally if I owned an S, I would definitely use a synthetic oil, either Mobil 1 0w40 or Amsoil 10w40 in the summer. Especially if the car is driven hard.. like most are.
15w50 might be a little too thick but the higher viscosity will really protect the engine well at 9000rpm.
10w60 is the multigrade that's recommended for the M3.. I remember hearing how Car and Driver were topping up the M3 with regular 10w30 during one of their "long term" tests.. I think they had to buy 5 extra quarts or something like that..

I use Motul 6100 10W-40 for street .

For track, I use Motul 300V 10W-60.

Other than the weight of the oil itself.
And the type, synthetic , synthetic blend and regular

they are pretty much all the same.
Oil is as gimmicky as hair brushes.
They do the same job no matter what type of brush you use. (as long as the oil is not used)

I've had customers bring their own synthetic oils and I've also sold them whatever type of oil they prefer.
Its all the same as long as you use the right weight.
Think about it what could they possible do to oil that makes it space-age.
Synthetic is nice because it does not change with temperature.

I have a customer with a 1971 Ferrari 365 GT4C (there is only four left in the world, built 20 in total) he's the orginal owner and he just uses AMSoil synthetic.
I've asked him if he noticed a difference with any other brand and his answer is price. (everything that has to do with this car is expensive...air filters are 437.80 and I need two of those!!! oil filters are 87.35 each and again I need two)

I've rebuilt lots of motors and sure the motors that use synthetic show less signs of age, other than that if there was two identical motors that used different oils and same driving style I wouldn't be able to differeniate the two.
