Oh man - you guys gotta keep those of us that don't live on the forum in the loop. I didn't know this thread deletion had happened. I hope someone would have contacted me via PM when the deal was finalised?
I'm in for the top when (if??) this happens - will pick up in Toronto too (forget my questions about shipping on the deleted thread).
Please keep me in the loop when info is available. I was relying on the old thread for that.

Assuming that we can ship the tops to one location in the gta/yr we have a killer deal on shipping. $75 each and it includes insurance.
We are working w/ the vis to get a fitment guarantee and price. After the meeting tomorrow we will have a price.

Cost of shipping is one thing.
We still have to deal with duties, taxes, brokerage and any other customs fees. So, the sooner we know the price, the sooner most of us can see if this is cost feasible. The good thing is that most of these costs will be divided up amongst the buyers.

Anyone have a contact in NY where these could get dropped off. I have a feeling that the border charges are going to be ridiculous. I remember hearing of a post office in NY that would hold things so you could drive down and pick them up ? I guess we will wait and see.

The fees at the border:
- taxes (PST & GST)
- import duties should be zero - auto parts do not have import duties IIRC
- brokerage fees - this is up to the shipping company. UPS is among the worst for this.
Alternatives:
- whomever is running the group buy picks up the tops in the US and "self imports" to get them into Canada. This avoids the brokerage fees. I don't think it will be worth the effort. I'm expecting the brokerage fees will be some lump sum like $500-$750 across all the tops (i.e. $750/16 tops). Additionally, does the guy running the group buy have access to a fifth wheel trailer to bring all the tops across the border at once. Probably not...
If the shipping plus brokerage is say $75 + 750/16 = ~$130 delivered to Toronto that would be a screaming deal IMO. We'd still need to pay taxes on the base amount for the top.
HTH, $0.02, YMMV, etc.

auto parts are duty applicable, but only if the parts are made outside of NA or Mexico. I'm not sure where VIS makes their products...
UPS brokerage fees are a hugggeeeee ripoff btw. I once paid $80 in brokerage for a $120 part...lesson learned.
