hi everybody. I was just wondering if any of you fellow torontonians know anything about bringing a new or a used car back to Canada from the U.S.?! IF SO PLEASE HELP!!! After a long time of discussion i have decided to pursue a car from the U.S. because of pricing being much cheaper in the U.S. and the Canadian dollar having been boooming as of late.

Some questions that i would like to get answered would be, upon driving it back it to the border, would we have to pay customs? How much? How about permanently making it a vehicle in Ontario? Sorry if these questions seem triviale, i've tried looking up the procedure on the ministry of transportation of ontario which was totally pointless.

So if any of you know anything about the procedure in bringing a car back from teh states, any help would be much appreciated and hopefully i'll be a fellow s2k driver soon!

It's all there... on a used vehicle, the recall clearance letter may be trickier to obtain.

But i still can't seem to find whehter or not i am going to have to pay taxes? Assuming i do, how much does it come to? Do i have to pay GST, PST or both?

Both, plus 6.1% duty.

You have to pay the GST and the duty at the border, and PST when you licence the car in Ontario. I think anyways.
