Default Travel Advice

So I'm booking (a little late) our honeymoon, and am open for some recomendations.

needed:

afordable but nice/cool hotel in Barcelona for 3 nights.
things to see in and around barcelona (no plans to visit Alonso's parents)

afordable but nice/cool hotel in Avignon for 3 nights.
things to see in and around Avignon

afordable but nice/cool hotel in Paris for 3 nights.
things to see in and around Paris

... also any other must see/do ideas. We basically have a week between Spain and France but don't want to be too rushed so places where we can stay for a few days at a time would be ideal.

Thanks all,

First off, just spend all the time in Avignon, you won't want to go anywhere else.

The rest are very tourist focused and had magical ways to part you of funds.

If it were me, I'd rent a villa or chateau (surprisingly cheaper) and make it a base, then travel to places by train or car...it'll likely be cheaper and better. Plus its private.

I could retire there.

"afordable but nice/cool hotel "

I should have noted that i realize that its all relative. Just there's a difference between staying at the 4 Seasons on business and a cozy B&B or Boutique hotel when traveling on your own dime.

I would recommend going down somewhere along the Costa Blanca in Spain, also the Cote D'Azur in France. The Mediterranean usually has Some of the best weather in Europe and the food if you like wine, Olives, taps etc is excellent. In the Costa Blanca you can go anywhere from Benidorm through Alicante. If you head to the Cote D'Azur I'd highly recommend Nice. It's beautiful has lots to see and do and Monaco is only a 15 min train ride away.

As far as hotels go I'd agree with Simon don't skimp on hotels it's the honeymoon. If you are looking for a decent chain Campanile hotels are quite good and most are a decent price. I have stayed at some that are like a Holiday Inn Express/Hilton Garden Inn like. Some are also more upscaley like a Hyatt. They are usually mid range.

If in Barcelona check out the Barri Gothic, Las Ramblas, The different neighborhoods around downtown.
