all kidding aside...it was VERY frustrating.

the car just wanted to step out ALL THE TIME.
The solution to your problem lies in downforce.

You need a big honking wing to tame all that big honking power Nimesh. LIKE AN INSANE WING!

no, it's the power DELIVERY.

pre-vtec there's no difference...albeit marginally faster....but when vtec kicks in - and you're mid-corner - strange things happen.

i was probably the slowest car of any at 4/5 and 7 (or is it 7/8) - both double apex sweepers. i lost ALL of my time there.

conversely, when we ran nelson and 4 became a single corner....i was gone - FLAT-OUT-GONE.

Is it that it's too sensitive to modulate the throttle in vtec while you're rolling around in the car?

Sounds like you're talking about the large sweepers rather than shorter 90 deg bends.

Maybe we should arange for a beer meet to debrief everyone with the results of everyone's new setups?

exactly....sweepers - and even just long corners....for example, the right turn off the back straight was giving me problems too....i'd turn in and just before the apex, v-tec would kick in....going one gear up wasn't an option (i tried). i had to change the line to a shorter radius. i'd brake later and then literally turn right....even then i was only hitting 105-110 at turn-in (a few times i only hit high-90's).

short corners weren't really a problem b/c the car could "set" under braking.

yes, we should have a meet to exchange experiences....it looked like rob (black) and i were driving similar lines....he was fast too.

there was one lap where i couldn't shake marco either....his gearing was giving him similar accel. to my blower.

....told you this was THE BEST performance mod to make.

16% performance increase = accelerate like a SC car.

Oh and it was over several laps...Scott told me to back off and make room.

So marco you are getting used to the gears?

And Nimesh you will get used to the blower. You have to restart your learning curve to your new setup. No biggie. Just can't expect to do it in one track session.

But once you do figure it out. LOOK OUT

Yep...I am now at home with the gears. We're talking about the back straight at Shannonville here...so corners had nothing to do with the acceleration of both cars.

Like I said... 4.77 FD = acceleration like a SC car.

Drawback = gas mileage, highway driving and lower top end....

You're always going to get that with a change in torque when at max. cornering. You do have a VAFC right? You can move the VTEC engagement point, down to minimize the power surge. Added benefit of improving your mid-range powerband.

I swear Honda makes the VTEC crossover higher RPM than optimal to give all the casual drivers the mini-turbo experience, that is slower. It's probably a bigger issue with '04+ cars since you have a bigger chance to drop off-cam from shifting. So higher chance of excitement when accelerating on a curve.
