Default Things to be awared of when buying from the states

I've decided to get some new rims, however I'm concerned about the shipping, boarder tax etc...

If I'm buying from the states, which shipping company should I use?
How much tax do I have to pay when they go through boarder?

I've heard many bad stories about using UPS...is FeDex any better?
Which shipping plan is better? (2days business day, 1week etc)

Details would be appreciated....thanks in advance guys!!

Try to get 'em shipped to Buffalo, find a tire guy down there to install 'em on your car then drive your car back.

I don't know if I can squeeze all 4 OEM rims/tires into my mini trunk...hehe

How much % of the value is the boarder tax when they ship from the states?

Trying to do some calculations here...Jeff @ evo gave me a pretty good price, but if they charges insane amount of borader tax then that's gonna cost me an arm and a leg...

Or you could drive down w/ another car to pick up your OEM rims, and just say they are track tires for your car

Contact a local wheel/tire place if you're getting rims Bennette. Honestly, Speedstar or 100 other places in TO will save you a BUNCH of headaches. Take a look at Rich's delema. When it comes to big items like rims, much better to get it locally. Yes, in direct exchange, it would be cheaper to get them from the States, but with all the problems and cost involved with getting them over the border, it's just not worth it/cost effective in the end.

FWIW, almost everything I've bought from the States, I've gone and picked up...
