I got my AP1 from California and shipped it here in an enclosed trailer. It has less mileage and has every option available. Including the CD changer in the trunk LOL. Well the strakes are still in the box as the original owner decided not to put them on I guess.

The low mileage doesn't inspire me to pay an extra $9k , MY00's command the least amount of money among all S2K years. You can get a clean ap2 for that money or less. I think I'd rather have an s2k that was driven regularly for reasonable miles than one that sat idle for long periods of time. Quite often fluids don't get changed properly and condesation accumulates in various parts of the mechanical systems. You can get electrical issues on switches that don't get used regularly too.

True the early AP1's do go for a bit cheaper then the later AP1's but a low mileage car will always fetch a premium simply bc the idea that something has been used "less" makes it more valuable. I was able to snatch up a low mileage (40K kms) MY01 for a descent price here in TO. For me, It made sense to to pay 70 % (or under) of what a comparable mileage AP2 would cost considering for me, the AP2 wasn't over 30% "more" car. That was my rationale but everyone's a bit different.

I think when buying an S2000 a lot of people think you can pick them up for the same depreciation rates as a civic. This is just not the case. That price seems reasonable to me considering it is coming from a dealership and not private sale and the mileage of the vehicle being so low.
The S2000's were made in short quantity compared to other production cars and because of it, the market value is a lot higher than the book value of the vehicle. Something to keep in mind when purchasing locally...

Theres low mileage s2000's popping up all over north america.

Yeah the way it works, you walk into a dealership with a low mileage S2000 to trade in and they tell you the car is extra clean, so they may offer you a couple thousand more. Then they put it up for sale on the lot and think that the low mileage should fetch 2-3 times book value, they treat it like a museum piece and tell every prospective purchaser that the low mileage deserves the etra money.
I would take a low mileage s2000 over if I had to pay a $2,000 premium but I'm not going to get ass-raped just because a car has lower than expected miles. I don't regard 30,000+ kms as being crazy low to command a huge premium, if you had one around 5,000 miles then it might command significantly more money .

Agreed. Truth be told among the other demographics of S2K enthusiasts are the older gen. that want a barely touched S2K that has not had "any" mods and no fancy colour combinations and zero evidence of "boy racer" tampering. Those guys will pay a premium for an untouched specimen AP1 or AP2. I suppose there are those types of enthusiasts for many types of cultish sports cars they're just the minority of the market, but they're there.
