Doug I'd have to agree that I wonder what Honda designers were thinking aobut not haveing a locking mechanism on the back tailgate. Maybe they just forgot about it.
The only thing I came up with is I wonder if the 2-way opening talegate gave them some unique locking mechanism problems and they just deemed the need not worthy of a solution.

I don't know Doug, they rated the Ridgeline at 5000lb with 4 people, full tank of gas and 150lb of cargo.
I think you could safely bump it up to 85% of full tow and not have a problem.
People have already towed cars on double axle trailers with it and said it towed them great.

Hey, you saw black with tan?
The one at the dealership I saw was black with charcoal interior?
Do we actually get more choices than the US? (They just get black and tan).
I'm confused.
(No tailgate lock is stupid too).

I think the trailer weighs more than that CRX!
Look at the gap between the tires and the body front to back...

I'd rather have the black/tan than just the charcoal. Was kind of disappointed to see the all black interior when I opened the door actually.
Heh, and Doug, I don't think towing the S anywhere is in the cards. Most towing would probably be a boat - a couple of times a year at that.

I don't know anything about the Ridgeline, but perhaps when you lock the doors, the rear gate is locked, unlock the doors and its released, just no key required?

Rob, not everyone agrees, go for it. Just don't call me and tell me you lost the S, the trailer and the Ridgeline during a steep downhill drive...
Regardless, I don't think I'd be towing the S2k with anything anytime soon.

Oh, and I'll race ya, my Titan, trailer and S against your Ridgeline, trailer and boat.
