This may be obvious, but going to a track with a fellow S2000 driver where you both have timings apps can really accelerate your learning.

Learned tons from ruff1017 and got my personal best of 2:14, which was much faster than my first time there. As a testament to the value of seat time, he still smoked me by over 6 seconds on a bone stock S2000 on stock tires...and on his first track day with his S.

Yep, and in sub 10C weather too. I'm not sure what kind of kool-aid he was drinking, but I want some.

You'll get your best lap times in 10C weather, the cooler air allows you to get more straight line acceleration. As long as there are enough cars on the track to keep it warm, the hot tires will have the grip you need.
