It's there to also provide super car like acceleration according to the press release. How long do you honestly think you can maintain that performance ?

The brakes charge the battery every time you brake, lol.
That only extends range slightly, it's not going to fill it up. Especially under hard track driving. Plus you want to use braking as little as possible while lapping.

Official: NSX Racer to Compete in 2014 Super GT Season
After a four year hiatus, the NSX will make a return to Japan’s Super GT Series for the 2014 season. Last week at the 2013 Honda Motorsports press conference in Japan, Honda CEO Takanobu Ito confirmed that a racing machine based on the NSX Concept will replace their front engine Honda HSV-010 GT in the GT500 class. During the presentation, images of the “Next Evolution” Acura NSX Concept were shown. Additional details were scarce, only mentioning that the racer will be “suited to the new GT500 regulations” in 2014.

I like the look of the new NSX. It doesn't scream super car tho.

With 400 hp est., I am not sure that it will really fall into the category of a supercar, maybe just a really fast sports car, lol. I do like the car overall. I'm thinking you need 500+ hp nowadays to be running close to the big boys, with lots of the exotics going well over 600-700 hp. Still not sure about that expected pricing level that may be north of $120,000 U.S. ? , that will make it about $500,000 in Canadian showrooms lol . j/k.

Now THIS is a Supercar!!! That NSX prototype is garbage!
"NSX garbage?". I'm surprised man. A man with your knowledge so quickly slamming this new super car from Honda.
I'm not slamming the performance of the new nsx. To be honest I have zero knowledge of the powerplant it contains. I'm basing it on aesthetics. Honda has the ability to make some amazing looking vehicles and has in the past. For them to stamp out this as their super car would be embarrassing.... That hsv LOOKS like a Supercar. The nsx....not so much.

John,

Hopefully when they release this car it wont look like the concept.

Its Honda, they always take the prototype fun factor out before production. What can I say, 150k+ for a re badged Honda. Thank god for fan boys

Agreed. I'm not a huge fan of the concept NSX's looks. That front end is too spaceship for me. I'm hoping they can tone it down and make it look more like a car. Preferably it would have similarities to the old NSX since that car was so pretty and ahead of it's time. It doesn't have to look the same, just have a NSX flavour.

Now, a supercar can't look boring but it has to be pretty. It also has to be fast. If they want to make it a hybrid I don't care, as long as it is damn quick. Personally, I think the 490HP 3.4L V8 from the HSV-010 is a fine powerplant. It sounds like a goddamn F1 car. I want that.
