See! Now this is cool. Everyone is responding maturely and building their case factually. I like that. I started this thread while lurking on the Toronto site because I knew people were passionate about their favorite form of racing. That's what makes an interesting thread. Better than arguing about which microfiber drying towel is the best, no? One last favor to ask. Don't list IRL/CART/NASCAR together as if they are one unit vs. F1. They are all different. Also, quit bringing up restrictor plates. That is only for 2 of 36 races and all NASCAR fans hate them. They put them on to keep these 3,000 lb. tanks from going 230MPH. They could completely eliminate those 2 races and I wouldn't care.

Ok, now I'm ready to stoke the fires again. Has anyone watched the Craftsman Truck series races? They are a feeder series to NASCAR. They race Chevy Silverados, Dodge RAM's...it's funny as hell. But hey, it's racin'!!! As long as it's racing, I'm there. You're probably wondering "where in the hell are we going to see that on TV"? Easy. Go to Shoeless Joe's on King Street. And make sure you say hello to the girl behind the bar with the slightly big rump.

Wow, I see this thread has some new life, that's great, cmb, welcome.
I've been very busy planning the 11/9 Drive for my Upstate Region so I have been missing from this thread, but I see all is well.

If I had time to stick around I would jump on one thing, and that would be OhioRacer's comment that F-1 is not real racing. That is a joke, F-1 is real racing and that is a fact.

I will not flame him or call him an arrogant patriotic American because he supports NASCAR and thinks that is true racing. I will however say if he continues to refer to F-1 as a parade he will undermine all his credibility because if he actually watched an F-1 race he would see there is passing. Maybe not as much as NASCAR but then again logic, statistics and the laws of probability would say; if NASCAR has 3 times more cars on the track at one time, there WILL be more passing.

F-1 is not a parade. F-1 is not a racing series where there is no passing. Get this into your head and please stop making really uninformed comments about your perceived shortcomings of F-1.

i'm back....

tracy's 6th - with 15 minutes left in morning practice......

cmb, i'm not sure that all of your CART stats are correct......

1. CART also has a 7-speed tranny with reverse....used for ovals typically.

2. CART only has 2 (soon to be 1 - Reynard is in receivership) chassis available to them - LOLA, and Reynard - used to be more though.

3. CART engines will go from 3 to 1 (cosworth will be the sole supplier to make the series cheaper to join/compete in)

cmb, i'm not arguing, just clarifying (and i could still be wrong)......
