I just checked on the Tire Rack web site and this is what I found.
Kumho has yet to introduce the new Ecsta V700 in the 245/45-16 (rear); this tire was preferred at the BMW school by those who had run both the Ecsta V700 and the VictoRacer V700. Kumho does have both in the 225/50-16 (front) size though.
245/45-16 VictoRacer V700 - $135 (full tread/not heat cycled)
225/50-16 VictoRacer V700 - $130 (full tread/not heat cycled)
225/50-16 Ecsta V700 - $128 (full tread/not heat cycled)
I have always heat cycled my own, and the tirerack web site has instruction s on it on how to do so. Some people don't mind spending the $15 per tire, but I do! I also go with full tread, because after all, schools are not a race and full tread will get me through more schools.
I will call Jim at Tire Rack and see if he knows when new sizes might be coming out.

BUmP this up....
Guys, im considering some R-Compounds before the next Saab school.
My Toyo T1-S rears are soo done. I retired my car early at the Barrie autocross. They are not track worthy anymore.
I can set up a group buy depending on how many people are interested.
Let me know
Thanks

Guys...fyi, there is more to this just r- compounds.
1 - Toyo RA1 full tread tend to squirm at the track so it is recommended you go with shaved tires.
2 - Once you get them shaved, your in the boat I am in...if it rains...your ed...
3 - solution - another set of rims with S02s and a trailer to haul your r-compounds around.

RA1's are a great rain tire full tread, and will be ok shaved as long as there is NO standing water. They are not the best autocross tire as they like heat before getting sticky. TalonTire has this year's overstock on sale, with 16" S2000 sizes. Since it is Montreal you "ignore" the PST.

One thing to consider is what you're planning on using them for. All R Compounds are not equal and what may be better on the track may be not be the best auto-x tire. And the softest Auto-x may not wear too well on the track.
My Yoko's are the hard compound and dont get hot enough for auto-x to make a big difference but the wear pretty good and I'll be able to use them again next season. The rears will probably be done by midseason though.

I'd opt for the RA1's. They are the best back for the buck as they last forever!
I may be able to get the 40% discount on RA1's. I get that discount currently on 225-50-15's but i'll have to check if they can extend that same discount on 16"s. Let me know if you guys are interested...
