Default Question for the phone gurus, opinions on the Z600?

Is it a good phone? It's got the features that I want, just curious if anyone has heard of any reoccuring problems with it.

It has the same feautures as the T610 but it's bulkier and heavier. The display is not as good as the one in V400 and there is no speakerphone. The camera has no zoom (V400 has 4x zoom). It's got bluetooth if you care about it. I'm looking to get this phone because it's cheaper than the V400.

To be honest, the camera is not high on my list of priorities.. I'm mainly concerned about signal/reception quality, ease of use menu wise, battery life.. I don't mind the phone being a bit larger or bulkier, I hate those little dinky credit card phones.. the bluetooth is nice since I'll probably be using it as my only phone at home on the new Fido citywide plan and it will be easier to speak with someon with the earpiece..

it operates on 900/1900mhz only..

it would have been better if it had 850mhz.. as in remote areas you could literally hold onto a call with the phone showing "one yellow bar" no sh**t..

I was thinking of getting a z600 as Rogers and Fido have both done outstanding improvements to their 1900 band, but for about $150 more it seems more wise to get the quad band motorola v600 and have 850/900/1800/1900 with bluetooth..

If SE were smart, they could have "owned" the market of Bluetooth flip phones with 850mhz.. they didn't and only have the T637 and the K700 coming out with video capture features..

hope that helps..

Thanks Simon.. but I thought that Fido uses only the 1900 band? Fido isn't offering the V600.. yet..
The bluetooh headsets, what is the range and do they have to be within sight of the phone to work? Do they have rechargable batteries and how long do the batteries last?

Personally I don't do very much travelling outside of the GTA and looking at the Fido coverage map, unless I drive to various cottage countries which doesn't happen a lot, I will be covered. Plus I live alone and don't need the extra headsets of the landline and I don't talk on the phone at home a lot, period.. so the Fido plan/coverage makes sense for me.

yes Fido only use the 1900 band which is quite improved.

Before the Rogers 850mhz hoopla.. I was using Fido's and Fido's 1900 sig was so strong I had signal in my basement..

As for bluetooth headsets.. I believe the best ones on the market now is the SE HB35 and the mot HS810 and the Jabra bt250

I think they all have something like 10 metres distance..once paired. The one me and Vince have is the Jabra. I find the most comfortable but its annoying at times, as it can have this annoying crackling stactic from time to time

not to worry about battery life with the z600..

go and enjoy one nice phone :-)

I never get any static on mine, its been crystal clear always.

I'd wait for Rogers to push its new plans out, there will be a response to Cityphone...

Affa was up here this weekend and he couldn't call me anywhere past Stayner with Fido...sucktacular.

Me, I have a V600 which I'm using finally, its very nice with the quad band. Biggest feature I like is in call mute for conference calls.

Yeah, the coverage in cottage country for Fido sucks.. but personally I don't venture outside of the calling area very often, maybe once or twice a year.

Looks like the Jabra 250 is the sheit from the reviews I've read.. What did you guys pay for yours? I see it for about $100 US online..
Do you ever use it in the S with the top down? Saw some complaints about wind noise/poor performance in windy conditions.
