Default Powdercoating stock wheels

This might seem like a stupid question, but ..can powdercoating wheels be done within a day? If not, then I dunno how you can powdercoat wheels without having another set of wheels?

Thanks!

I doubt you could, but it all depends on the shop you intend on using.

Two things. Firstly, the rim is coated and then baked, you then need the rim to cool down after baking, then it has to be cleared.

Secondly, is the preparation of the wheels, they need to be prepped before powdercoating. I got mine bead blasted and cleaned, then it was powdercoated, and cleared. I couldn't get them done in one day. Any shop that is somewhat busy wouldn't likely do all that in one day, if you find a guy that needs the work maybe it could be done. Mine were a three step process which took a few days.

yeah they definitely can't have tires on the rims. You need to demount the tires then take them the rims, then get tires installed back on the rims. My rims were painted over the entire rim area, the outside face and inside circumference, except the hub mounting surface which should not be painted.

If you don't mind, can you tell me where you got your rims done and how much? Thanks.

I just used a local guy in my hometown, he does industrial powdercoating and I talked him into doing my rims. I just dropped off the rims to him and he did the rest I didn't even wash them. He bead blasted them entirely, powder coated the paint and then powdered the clear. I got the entire rim done not just the face. He said something about de-gassing the metal prior to painting (not sure what that was but he made it sound important, lol). Cost was $120 per rim, which is a bit on the high side, but the end product was flawless. I know guys in the US talk about $50 powdercoating but I don't know what you get for that price. I doubt it includes bead blasting the surface. Probably in a bigger city you could find a shop that could do it cheaper.

Thanks man. That's not a bad price at all considering the few local shops that I've gotten quoted in GTA are $650+.

650 + for powdercoating.... AHAHAHAHAH. I know places around me in woodbridge that will powdercoat your wheels black for 250. Other colours depending upon what they are, a little more expensive.

when i read that 650 + powdercoating... that reminded me of when one of my buddies brought his bmw 330i to a performance shop that charged him 150 bucks for an oil change ahahahahah
