Default Paint Peeling .. What to do?

my tire caught the fender and the paint peeled off on a section of it. Its about 1 inch long and quarter inch wide. It peeled off cleanly and there is just exposed metal. What are my options here if i don't want to completely paint the whole fender? I just want to stop it from rusting.

thanks

If it started to rust, you need to remove it completely.

Get some touch up paint and put a thin layer, allow to dry completely and repeat to build it up.

Are you driving the car in the winter?

did the car have an aftermarket paint job? factory oem paint don't peel easily. with bad weather condition we are getting this year. your car will start rusting within a matter of a few weeks. you should definitely go get this fixed with touch up paint for time being to be on the safe side.

Take it to a body shop. They can do a spot fix for you...may cost a few bills though...

i'm not driving it during the winter, this actually happened in the fall but i'm trying to figure out what i should do when i bring it out. It is the original paint but like i said, i hit the fender hard with the tire, the paint started cracking then it peeled.

Should i sand it down a bit first then apply touch up paint? is there need to put like a rust primer before then touch up?

i would go to a body shop and get it painted, i even wouldn't mind getting the whole fender painted but i'm worried about the paint not matching up with the rest of the car. i'd rather just have a very very small area with touch up then a huge spot if they do spot painting or the whole fender.

Most good body shop will be able to do a nice matching job.

GPW is pretty easy to match - I had my fender repainted when someone hit it in the parking lot. Mind you the car was 4 months old at the time. Then again it's not a metallic paint, so it should blend pretty easy.

I got a couple of bubbles on my trunk lip, gonna get it repainted in the spring when I bring it back out... maybe not right away - at least not until the humidity subsides.
