OK, the MDX is on order..but the 4Runner has caught my eye

Okay, so the thread is a year old, but let me pipe in my 2c anyway. I own an '02 Tundra. Formerly drove a 99 4Runner SR5 V6. Parents recently traded their 02 CRV for an 03 4Runner Limited V8. And that was *after* driving the Pilot/MDX/Highlander.
The MDX is little more than a roughed-up Odyssey. The 4Runner, even the base model is full of a plethora of gadgets and gizmos that us S2000 owners would drool over. The V8 is smooth and silky, not to mention the new 5 speed auto in the Limited, that even my Tundra doesn't have. While I do like the Tundra's more basic 4WD system (never got stuck in the snow yet), the 4 Runner's adjustable height, traction and active skid controls sure make it a more stable driving platform in everyday icy weather. The weight over the back compared to the Tundra likely helps in this aspect also. Saying that, I have got stuck in the snow with the 4Runner, however the Tundra was there to lend a helping hand Unless Toyota comes out with a bigger, more powerful 8 for the Tundra, the 4Runner is what I'm gunning for next.
Fret not, the '04s now all come with body coloured bumpers/moulding. No more plastic crap for a $45,000+ truck. Oh, and if Acura/Honda tries to sell themselves on the "7" passenger seating, Toyota has that too for '04.
Why on earth someone would want to buy a Pilot with a measly 8" of ground clearance, 4500lb towing capacity, a high-revving V6, and no *real* low range 4WD for the same price as an SR5 V8 4Runner is beyond me.
Obviously, what I've said may be outdated come 2006, so lets hussle eh Mike?

No question there! : MDX all the way.
I am really not a big fan of those truck desgin for FARM work like the 4Runner. That drive like shit.
I had an MDX last year for Christmas, and nothing was able to stop me. I drove from Montreal to TO at an average speed of 140km/h in one of the worst Snow Storn I saw yet. Van were stop on the highway I had to use the shoulder to pass then. But the MDX never stop, no one pass me for the 5 hour drive and I never slow down under 120. I never feel having somuch control on the road than with an MDX, My dad has an Suburban and that not even close to the quality of the MDX. (his 04 MDX is in order also)
Also, in 2004, we now have White Pearl with Navi and RES. very very nice.
My only other choice than an MDX will be Cayenne or X5 4.4.
I also drove the H2 and it drives like shit........but looks really cool, I must say.

Raul I agree. I just love the fact that Nissan is going after the big three, and going after them in their bread and butter segment. The profit margin on American trucks is just absurd!!!
As you know I have my '95 Nissan 4x4 pickup and love it. This is my 3rd pickup and I have come to really love having one in my fleet. I have thought long and hard about full size of not, and the conclusion was, screw it. Go big or go home. Because I have the motorcycle, the CXR-Si and the S2000 I'm not that worried about gas consumption. The only time it will be a daily driver is during the winter. And what is bizarre, one on the new Armada owners on the Nissan forum is getting within 2 miles per gallon of what I get in my little truck. I guess that 379 foot pounds and 5-speed tranny let the thing move right along at rather low engine speeds.
