Test fit the front brakes on the project car today, and they are 1mm from the wheel spokes. I recall Nick running that close on his car so that may be safe but I will likely toss in a 1mm spacer to get it to the very safe point (2mm clearance)

The only real issue is that the inside wheel weights mounted to the outside edge of the rim interior bore will contact the caliper. I need to find an alternative method of having the wheel balanced

stoptech recommends minimum 2mm clearance so I’d use that as a guideline for the wilwood kit

Thanks Nick, that sounds like the way to go, I will slap on a thin spacer. The wheel weights will be a bigger challenge I guess.

I could be wrong but I think you can specify to get the wheels dynamically balanced ? which only puts the weights on the inside edge.

I just got this on my FB feed from a local powder coating service- set of 4 rims for $299. I'm thinking that's a good price and I'm gonna do one of my sets.

any one have a colour recommendation for the Suzuka Blue? I was thinking either a dark gun metal- not black, but close. I love white, but with HP+ pads...not easy to keep clean.

All depends on which vintage wheel you are getting refinished, gunmetal is great on AP2V3's.

Gunmetal sounds nice, the powdercoating price sounds too good to be true, will they bead blast it for that price to prepare the surface or just sand and prime.

It seems they are bead blasting them then powder coat.

So, then I realized my car is not in my garage and not accessible as its in storage right now. slap forehead.

I suppose I could powder coat my superleggera rims gloss black to make them pretty again.

So I spoke with a different tire place and they will do a static balance, which is good enough for 99% of my driving, they are currently dynamically balanced so weights are on both sides of the wheel. Going with a static balance weights will be doubled up on one side (give or take as needed) . The only time a static balance may give you an issue is at extreme speeds. Thanks for putting me on the trail of this Nick
