Is the oem ap1 spoiler suppose to have a gasket/seal underneath?

If I recall it does have some small/thin rubber pads mounted on some parts of the underside but it really isn't a gasket type of material, that won't keep the trunk leak proof on it's own. The spoiler is designed to use rubber o-rings around the four holes that get drilled through the trunk as the main waterproofing design.
I bought a used spoiler for my ap1. What I did was to us black gasket sealer (Permatex) around the four holes drilled in the trunk lid, as well as the corresponding areas on the underside of the spoiler. Then I dropped 4 rubber o-rings around each hole, and then they got sandwiched between the two layers of gasket sealer upon tightening of the spoiler. Water drains under the spoiler but it won't leak through the bolt holes if done correctly. I believe the spoiler has drain channels formed in the underside surface if I recall correctly.
You can checkout the on-line installation instructions on some of the Honda part suppliers in the US. I followed those instructions but I used the gasket sealer for extra leak protection and less chance of rusting issues in the future. I also painted all of the four holes that I drilled to reduce the chance of rust.

If anyone gets a used ap1 spoiler you likely won't get the template alignment donuts for the two center holes that need to be drilled into the trunk. I ended up using those round band-aid thingys people use on foot/toe corns from Dr. Scholls as substitutes, they worked perfectly in lining up the holes to be drilled. If anyone needs some info on how to do it hit me up.

I take off my OEM AP2 spoiler in the spring to clean (I think it is the same)and it does have black foamy bits. Some that look like weather striping around the bottom and larger area ones around the holes as well.
