Default newbie got some questions...

Hi yall !!

I am planning to buy an S2000 this summer. But since i am not rich enough, i can only afford a 2nd hand one.

Currently, i am still at the "researching" stage. I came across this forum and i am glad to see so many toronto s2000 owners.

Following are my questions and concerns:

1. is $25000 a reasonable price for a 2002/2003 s2000 ( or is it too good to be true)? I am not too familiar with the market price of s2000, and i really dont' want to buy a car that was a "write-off" or has "salvage" title. bascially, i want to buy an avg priced s2000, instead spending a few grands less, and risking getting a lemon.

2. when i am buying a 2nd hand s2000, what sort of things should i look for? like what are the common problems? and under what condition should i avoid that car?

3. is the maintanence expensive? i knew a frd whos driving a mercedes, and shes been pouring $1000 into that car every other month (little problems here and there).

4. read so many posts ( from other forum) about stolen cars. Is s2000 apart of the same problem?

btw....I read most of the posts here ( within the first 6 pages), and i couldn't really find the information that i was looking for. Therefore, i made this post.

1. not a bad price about average I'd say
2. The S2000 is pretty solid
3. No maintenance is just alike a civic
4. If your a tool it will be flatbedded away.

1. no. prepare to pay 30-ish.
2. like most used cars, have the basics checked...i'd do a comp./leakdown test....look for service records.....
3. the S2000 doesn't need much servicing....again, just the basics, per the service manual intervals will suffice...unless you track it, etc. maintenance is cheap.
4. i leave my car outside all the time....someone tried to steal the wheels once, but the car itself has never been stolen - nor attempted, to my knowledge.

Might want to check on that one, bud.

Here's a pretty average break down based on auto trader pricing:

'00 ~ $25K
'01 ~ $27K
'02 ~ $29K
'03 ~ $31K

If you want a solid car that you can find a bunch of info on why don't you look at the many members cars that are for sale in this forum. They were all really well taken care of and are selling at good prices.
