Late to the thread, but if you have 2 sets of rims --- definitely 16" for track tires, 17" street.
Last year I ran RA1's on the street/track/autocross. It was fine (probably the best compromise choice), but definitely a compromise. RA1's not the best for autocross. Pretty stiff ride on the street (compared to SO2's), had to worry about rain when they wore down to the no tread pattern depth. The street heat cycled the tire to reduce track performance and running RA1's full depth tread can be wiggly under braking. I got 12k one full season with 10 autcrosses and 5 track outings with even and equal wear on all tires.
