Need a little wheel advice.

I think the Ap1 style of rims is one of the nicest styles around. I just sent mine out to be powdercoated at a local shop in my hometown. The Honda clearcoat is kinda crap and doesn't seem to hold up on polished style rims, the clear on my ap1 rims wasn't aging well despite not being damaged at all.
I'm getting mine powdercoated in silver. The rims are being sandblasted, powdered, and cleared. I should have them back this week. This way I get to keep the style of rim which I like, and powdercoating is durable. I also can keep the factory staggered rims with proper offset. With powdercoating you can go with any colour you like, I went with silver to match the car colour. A nice bronze, gunmetal, or gold is sweet as well. Lots of possibilities.

Problem is tire selection in 16's, 225 is about as wide as you can get

are you talking about 225 vs 245? cuz some 225 are wider than some 245
Toyo T1R has a 245, but it's not nearly as sporty as the oem ones.

FWIW, I'm currently running 225/245 R888 on AP1 wheels. Works fine on the street and is not a determining factor in performance for auto-x in my club (stock wheel for stock wheel).

I like the lightness of ap1 oem wheels as well. I'm putting on BF Goodrich KDW's this week, their a bit skinnier than similarly sized tires, but they stick well and I got them at a clearance price brand new from TR.
Picked up my powdercoated AP1 OEM wheels today done in metallic silver colour, they look great, flawless painting job on them. They resemble a brand new rim.
