NEED ADVICE ASAP
Hey guys,
Today i took the initiative to get all my fluids changed in my AP1. I went to a generic garage shop to have the mechanic there change my transmission oil, differential oil and engine oil. I bought 75w-90 castrol gear oil for my differential and i bought only 1 bottle which was a 946ml container. When the mechanic put the differential oil in, alot of the oil dripped out of the differential through the fill hole. He went ahead and put the fill bolt on stating that it was full. Since 946ml is equivalent to 1 quart which is the required amount to fill the differential and since some oil leaked out, that automatically means that i have less than a quart in the differential. I asked him if it was full and he kept saying yes and he proved it to me by showing me that it's leaking out the fill plug after removing the fill plug for the second time. Do you think i should bring the car to a Honda dealership and have them drain and refill it with the correct amount or do you guys think i am safe. I'm really paranoid and don't want to blow my differential. Any comments are kindly appreciated

hmm seem like he didnt drain the diff oil completely out ...
but when it is full it does drip out...
my suggestion is that you go to a reputable shop that works on out S next time..
overall your diff wont blow because it does have fluid and it is full !

As long as your car was nice and level its okay for it to run out of the fill bolt. When the oil is up to the bottom of the fill hole with the car level that means it has enough oil. The transmission is the same way.
Plus you dont want to overfill it cause it will expand with heat and potentially blow the seals out.
So like I said:
1- Car level
2- Oil up to the bottom of the fill hole

does the car require exactly 1 quart of differential fluid or does it require less. Because the bottle i bought was 946ml= 1 quart and since it dripped i certainly have less than that in my differential

In other words, don't worry about it, he did a good job.
