My cavalier has a problem, any ideas?
While im driving on the highway at 90 its fine. As soon as i go to 110 or higher my coolant temp goes up. Normally it runs dead on 90c, when i go above 110 it heats up to 95c, and when i go 130 it heats up to about 100c-105c. As soon as i slow down to 90 it goes back to normal temp. Previously it always held at 90. It went low coolant recently and so i filled it. Thats the only thing i can think of that i have changed. Could it actually be the coolant i used?

Water pump leak ..... Coolant low indicates its getting out some how.... Maybe head gasket damage was done.
Or maybe a cavalier wasn't meant to go 130
As speed goes up so does engine speed, the system can't keep up. Cheap thing to try first make sure there are no leaks, second put in 1 little bottle of water wetter ......

The worst case scenario I was thinking was head gasket
I used to run the car at 130-135 for an hour or more, it stayed dead on 90c the whole time. It started after I added coolant, which has me wonder. Gonna start checking for leaks, but I hadnt noticed anything before. I have had the car a year and a half, and only have done oil changes. I did no other maintenance to the car whatsoever, not even add windshield washer fluid

Had a sentra with similar problems.
It was head gasket.
But specifically when they filled up the coolant again. They had to jack up the front so there wasn't any air pockets.
That might help out?
