Default LF Rear Tires

I'm in the market for a set of new high performance summer rated rear tires (245-40-17) for my 2006 S for this summer. Any recommendations based on your experience, good or bad, would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Whatever matches the front. Grip is nothing without balance

this. Had mismatched tires when I bought my S, extreme understeer to snap oversteer made it "slightly" unpleasant.

I had 4 new Toyo T1R's installed 4 years ago. The rears are worn out now, but the fronts still have 50% life left. I guess I'll be looking for 4 new tires now based on your recommendations. The T1R's aren't made anymore from my understanding, otherwise I would just replace the rears with the same.

Thanks for your input.

One year I tracked with 215 z1SS in the front and 255 rs3 in the rear. That made for an interesting few track days, the car felt really really weird. Still got decent times though. As long as the tires are about equal in grip I think but hey... I do dumb things sometimes

Shitty tires... Ran them on the track and I wanted to drive off a cliff. They sucked on the street.

Do yourself a favour and get a good tire, it will make the car that much more enjoyable.

I recommend RE11a (being replaced shortly).. Seems to be quiet, good steering feel, grippy, decent tire life, good in the rain for a 200A.

try this one on for size:

when I first took my car to the track spring last year, I was more pre-occupied with the fluids than the tires although I checked the pressures, everything was good. I just didn't check the model, year, type, compound etc, because the rears were S-02's, and people on here kept saying "try it first then upgrade it" so I just assumed they were at least summer tires which would be good enough, right?

well, on my third lap at mosport ddt (running reverse) the tires overheated, gave out after the straight and into the chicane, and I went off track pretty hard and dodged a pylon by a hair. when I went to get my R1R's put on, the guys at the tire shop told me I had 11 year old all seasons on the front (the rears were 3 year old S-02's)
I just assumed the previous owner was not this much of a dumbass, but now I don't question anything.

TLDR i'm an idiot for not checking stuff. don't do what I did.

Wow! That's really bad... Good to hear you came out okay, but that's a great reason there to check the tires.
