Hey guys,
I want to clarify someting else regarding mods and insurance.
I see that many of you guys have modifications on your cars. Does any of the insurance companies have options in their plans that offer some coverage on modifications?
I am asking this because I am thinking of getting a set of aftermarket wheels, and I am a bit worried that in the case they get stolen, I will be screwed. I know that in B.C, the company covers mod parts up to $5000. How about here?
Another thing: How bad reallyis the car vandelism/theft in Ontario? I have heard some nasty stories from friends, but I am not sure about their validity. I will refrain from some modifications if I know the vandelism/theft is really bad here.
Any input is greatly appreciated guys!

Well Buy your Insurance first before you do any mods. Most Insurance companies nowadays will ask you to take your car to there shop so they can see if the car is modded or not. Not worth paying extra coin for your mods. Waterloo isn't bad with people trying to steal your car but in the GTA that's a different story. It's not even worth claiming anything in Ontario cause they will Rape your little asian ass like there is no tomorrow
I live in the waterloo area and have no problem what so ever.

lol, thanks for the quick response.
So you are saying that if I want to, I can still cover the mods, just that the insruance will be higher? What if say today I insure my stock car, but add on mod parts later and not tell them. Do I not get modification coverage then?
Thanks !

you won't get the mods coverage if you put them on after telling them it's a stock car...
however, do know this, if after an accident and an adjuster see your car having mods he/she will have the authority to forfeit your claim and give you nothing

I see. Well, i wouldn't mind paying a bit more to get my mod parts insured from theft.
Do you guys feel, however, that car theft/vandelism is a serious issue in the GTA ?
