I'll take the mature approach, since the rest of these wankers just make this shit up..
As Marco says, find some common ground, liken your love for cars to something that she loves, and let her know that this is one of those small pleasures that you really enjoy, and you wouldn't dream of denying her something that she enjoys so why should she do that to you?

and as some wise (ass ) guy told me once, a women that is behind you no matter what is one worth keeping
