Default Help: Need Info!

doing the clear diffuser install right now... i want to remove everything before i bake the light. Now, if I go ahead and take off the ballest and HID bulb will it result in a nice little deadly shock for me? I'm not sure if the ballast holds a charge or not...

The ballast holds a charge for quite some time.

DISCHARGE THE BALLAST before you remove anything, and don't touch the glass portion of the bulb with your bare hands. Any oil or residue on the bulb will result in a spectacular reaction and you will be out a $300+ bulb.

Good luck.

What silicone sealant are you using and where'd you get it?

I got some GE clear silicone at Canadian Tire, I'm not entirely sure it's the right stuff.

Try baking it a little longer.

Dude, you put the ballast in the oven???

The ballast is a sealed device - if you removed the bulbs, then you've done the hard part. Removing the ballast from the housing is simple.

the ballast was on the towel so it couldnt have gotten hotter then 70 degrees... caused some problems prying open the lower portion of the light tho
