youll meet significant opposition to ever putting a child in the front seat of any airbag equipped car, let alone an S2000, pretty much anywhere you go...

Im pretty sure its illegal in Ontario also....Your child will DIE if that bag deploys in a manner than contacts him inproperly. The manual suggests placing the seat all the way back - but to me this is not worth the risk..

IF you insist on carrying your child in the car, GOOD GOD remove the passenger side bag. You will have to replace it when it comes time to change vehicles.

You could be criminally negligent for the death of your child - this is not a matter of being "not ideal"

page 23 of my owner's manual (US car):

"your vehicle is not recommended for child passengers"

page 26:

"because an inflating airbag can seriously injure or kill small children, we recommend that you do not carry a small child as a passenger in this vehicle"

page 30:

WARNING "allowing a larger child age 12 or under to ride in the vehicle can result in injury or death if the passenger airbag deflates"

need i go on????

taken from the MTO website:

Can my child ride in the front seat while travelling in a motor vehicle?
Transport Canada recommends that all children under the age of 13 sit in the rear seat while travelling in a motor vehicle. Passengers who sit in the rear seat, particularly in the middle of the rear seat, are less likely to be injured during a motor vehicle collision because they are farthest from any potential point of impact. A child should never be seated in the front seat of a vehicle equipped with an active passenger-side airbag. Even when airbags are not present in the front seat of a vehicle, the rear seat of the vehicle is still the preferred location.

An exception is if the rear seat is the auxiliary seat (commonly known as a jump-seat) of a light-duty truck (pick-up truck) then the child should sit in the front if there is no active airbag.

So the rear is the safest spot, good thing we drive from the rear of our cars

You mention you have another car or 2, use them until the kids are older.
